Accessibility and Inclusion
Welcome to the Accessibility and Inclusion section of our website, dedicated to promoting accessibility and inclusion in all aspects of e-Learning. We are currently developing the accessible features of our site and would welcome comments and suggestions.
Recent legislation has made accessible and inclusive learning the responsibility of all training providers and their staff. The Regional Support Centre South West provides a range of services to promote a strategic approach to usable resources and inclusive eLearning. We are supported by TechDis, a leading advisory service to the education sector, providing expert advice and guidance on disability and technology, and the UK wide JISC organisation supporting innovative ICT in education and research through services such as JISCinfoNet and JISC Legal.
We offer you the following services:
- Support for senior managers on strategic approaches to inclusive practice in eLearning
- Information, advice and resources to support providers, staff and learners
- Advice on providing accessible electronic information for staff across a variety of roles within an institution (including marketing, network/IT, library/learning resources, teaching and administrative staff)
- Forums, conferences and mailing lists which allow staff from a range of institutions to meet online and in person to discuss and share issues on a range of assistive technology and learning support issues
- Help with interpreting and understanding the legal requirements of disability legislation in the context of technology and learning
- Awareness of current commercial and free-to-access assistive technologies
- A wide range of relevant workshops on using assistive technologies and creating inclusive resources, which under some circumstances can be offered in your own organisation
