We have developed a new 'Teachers Voice' case studies area to demonstrate a collective voice from practitioners involved within HE covering their experiences of using and utilising technology within education, please visit the Teachers Voice page here for more information.
Support for Higher Education delivered in Further Education
RSC’s develop effective and meaningful contact with those responsible for HE in all FE colleges in the region that deliver HE programmes, including Foundation Degrees, higher nationals, first degrees, higher degrees and higher level professional programmes. Your RSC provides advice on e-learning, demonstrating its potential for HE students in FE colleges, and facilitating regional communities of practice. The RSC also works with appropriate regional and national organisations in order to further this remit.
In the wake of new HEFCE/ QAA strictures on HE in FE delivery, your RSC represents a primary conduit of support for strategic developments. By January 2010, all HE units in FEC’s will need to have developed a discrete strategy; Your RSC can assist with this process by providing advice and facilitating a variety of online audit/review tools which will enable your Institution to position it’s relative e-maturity and give guidance on developing areas requiring development.
Support for Small HEIs and Universities
RSCs support the small HEIs within the region. We endeavour to meet the e-learning support needs of these institutions, working with each of the following constituencies – technical, library, learning and teaching and senior management. HE Coordinator broker effective support from other members of the RSC team to ensure excellent quality advice.
RSC HE Coordinators are proactive in facilitating and sustaining relationships between Institutions and regional/national partner agencies, particularly in supporting applications for funding from JISC and elsewhere.
Your RSC HE coordinator is fully cognisant of relevant policy and strategic initiatives (e.g. in England the HEFCE e-learning strategy) to ensure that their activity is congruent with JISC’s role in these. Your HE eLearning Advisor is up-to-speed with the activity of key national organisations such as the HE Academy, UCISA, ALT-C and SCONUL, and situates their work in the region within this national context.
Support for All
Your RSC HE eLearning Advisor would be happy to visit your institution to discuss relevant eLearning/Information Learning Technology issues-As mentioned above, RSC support may currently be particularly salient in relation to mandatory strategy developments required by funding bodies (e.g. HEFCE HE in FE strategy).
All RSC Events and Forums are open to HE delegates operating in any context (including within Universities), and each year we run dedicated HE events (both physically and virtually) to address the needs of the sector (e.g. focusing on HE in FE strategy development, the introduction of the Integrated Quality Enhancement Review etc). Additionally, your RSC HE eLearning advisor should act as a first point of contact for all institutional eLearning and ILT queries, whether they relate directly to Teaching and Learning or whether they are pertinent to support services within your organisation.
We act as brokerage and signposting agents as well as “fonts of information”; As part of a national RSC network (and regional conduit for information from other JISC advisory services and projects), the chances are that if we don’t know the answer, “We know a Man (or Woman) who can”., either within the RSC team or across the family of support services.
If you would like to arrange a visit, have a query or wish to discuss any aspect of the service, please get in touch with me:
