Moodle non-technical Administration Workshop

This hands-on workshop is intended for IT Staff and particularly for Moodle Administrators and Coordinators. Content will include the basics which you need to know about the Moodle Site Administration Block - and much more! The day will include demonstrations of required techniques and hands-on practice, plus a detailed step-by-step printed practice guide for trainees to take away and use while administering their institutional Moodle.

National Star College Technology Open Day

Anyone who is interested in the innovative uses of enabling technology, either in a specialist college setting, or to apply in other learning, living or work contexts. Attendees will be able to see how technology is being effectively used by learners with learning difficulties and or disabilities to promote learning and autonomy.

Gloucestershire College Open Day - Technology Exemplar Network

With the wealth of learning technologies and web 2.0 tools and services available to Further Education, this open day, will provide an opportunity to see how Gloucestershire College are using learning technologies to enhance and enrich learning. The open day will also give you an opportunity to discuss and debate with others how Web 2.0 and social networking can be used in Further Education.

Gloucestershire College is running the open day as part of the Becta Technology Exemplar Network (TEN)

This event is FREE to all FE Colleges, you do not need to be part of the TEN to visit.

We are running the Open Day on Wednesday the 10th March at our Gloucester Campus.

The day will focus on the use of Web 2.0 and Social Networking and how they can be used to enhance teaching and learning.

The day will also give you an opportunity to tour the college to see how we use ILT and how we have embedded learning technologies across the curriculum.

The day will consist of a formal introduction followed by semi-structured unconference format in which delegates will be invited to discuss, show and tell, collaborate, share and learn. The day starts at 10.00am and will finish at 4.00pm.

RSC Annual Conference 2010 - Challenges, Choices and Change in the Age of Enterprise and Engagement

This major Conference is aimed at Senior and Middle Managers, Practitioners, Trainers, Support Staff, all IT enthusiasts and professionals involved in teaching and learning within FE, HE, ACL, WBL, Specialist Colleges and Partner Organisations. In addition to ample networking opportunities, the day will be arranged to showcase and celebrate the work of our regional learning and skills providers by way of interactive workshops running concurrently throughout the day. Sessions will be packed with various themed activities emerging from a series of overarching strands: Knowledge Exchange, Public Engagement, Employer Engagement, Lifelong Learning, Practitioners' Corner, Exhibitors' Display Area.

eSafety Series: Education and Training

The key to e-safety lies in enabling staff to develop their skills and knowledge and to encourage learners to become Informed Users who can identify risks and act to protect themselves online. Providers have a legal responsibility for safeguarding Vulnerable Learners. Practioners working with learners with learning disabilities address some of the issues give examples of the resources available and explain how they engage learners. Karen Foster of Yeovil College with be presenting on the issues surrounding the topic and talking about Digizen

Putting e-safety into Practice

At Ofsted inspection, e-safety will be considered as part of the responsibility to Safeguard which is now a limiting grade that will affect the overall Inspection Grade. To round off the online series and following on from the JISC Legal webinar, there will be advice on Inspection requirements and an example of Good Practice from Gateshead College who where the first in the Tyneside region to appoint an internet safety officer. Iain Arthurs has been appointed to steer through a two-year initiative aimed at raising awareness of greater internet safety - not only among staff and students, but also the wider community who access the college services via email and online services.

JANET AUP's Assessing Risk - Learner Involvement-This series will examine the new risks and responsibilities facing institutions and give those exploring the use of new technologies, in their teaching, a chance to assess their practice.
